NEW YORK, April 19 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar moved noticeably lower in late trading on Monday amid an upward momentum in the euro and British pound.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased 0.53 percent at 91.0709.
In late New York trading, the euro was up to 1.2039 U.S. dollars from 1.1978 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was up to 1.3989 dollars from 1.3833 U.S. dollars in the previous session. The Australian dollar increased to 0.7760 U.S. dollar from 0.7732 dollar.
The U.S. dollar bought 108.09 Japanese yen, lower than 108.79 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar decreased to 0.9145 Swiss franc from 0.9198 Swiss franc, and it increased to 1.2531 Canadian dollars from 1.2501 Canadian dollars.
