Portland Timbers star Sebastian Blanco will be sidelined for six months after undergoing surgery to repair the torn ACL in his right knee.
The 32-year-old Argentine midfielder sustained the injury in the opening minute of the Timbers' 2-1 win against the Seattle Sounders on Sept. 6.
"Successful surgery," Blanco wrote on Instagram following Monday's procedure at the Oregon Outpatient Surgery Center.
"With this care and love I don't need anything else," he added, referencing a photo he posted of his family.
Blanco is in his fourth season with the Timbers and is coming off an MVP performance at the MLS is Back Tournament, won by Portland.
He has tallied 26 goals and 35 assists in 103 MLS appearances for the Timbers since joining the club in 2017. He had two goals and five assists in nine matches in 2020.
